Self
In this solo performance art piece, I gave peace through embodiment to the trapped thoughts within queer minds, ranging from fear and isolation to challenge, resistance, and identity claiming. It is about the sequence of feelings that sometimes haunt and sometimes rescue queer bodies along their journey of claiming a free body to live in.
In this piece, I am researching the very triggering feelings associated with common traumatic experiences among the queer population. How does the body feel when it internalizes societal rejection of queer existence? What is the bodily experience when the mind gives it no room to live but helplessness? How does the body feel when it resists and claims its space through movement and self-awareness?
